Discover the knife defenses & stick fighting Secrets of the Philippines with Fayette County's only Filipino Martial Arts Training Group

If you live on the south side of Atlanta and especially if you are in the Fayetteville, Riverdale, Tyrone, Jonesboro, or Peachtree City areas, you simply won't find a better opportunity to train in the Filipino Martial Arts.

Forged thru centuries of occupation, there are probably as many styles of Filipino Martial Arts as there are islands in the Philippine archipelago. From traders to invaders, the Filipino's have tried and tested swords, sticks, bows, empty hands, knives and more, all in combat and all with lethal efficiency. It is this experience that has made the arts of the Philippines some of the most sought after instruction for weapons defense and tactics.

Today, you will find the Filipino Martial Arts highlighted in movies such as the Bourne series, "The Hunted" with Tommy Lee Jones, and "300" just to name a few. The Filipino tactics for using and defending against a knife are becoming the standard for special ops soldiers in the war on terror.

But the Filipino Martial Arts offer more than just the most effective techniques for wielding a weapon and defending against an armed defender. They include a complete system of Empty Hand, Trapping and Grappling techniques, aimed at destroying your opponent instead of going for the tap out. In fact, it was Guro Dan Inosanto who introduced Sifu Bruce Lee to the trapping skills of the Filipino Martial Arts, which Bruce then combined with his Wing Chun trapping, becoming a huge part of Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do.

Now, you may be asking yourself "What is a 'Training Group' anyway?" Well, at the Fayette Academy of Martial Arts, we have started our training group with one mission: to study, examine, and explore as many different Filipino Martial Arts Instructors as we can. You will practice drills, strikes, blocks, disarms, defenses and techniques from a variety of different Guros and Masters. We will study videos & books and, when possible, bring in outside instructors to facilitate our training. Working together as a training group, with no ranks or tests, we will practice and adapt everything you learn to your individual needs and requirements.

So whether you are interested in Kali, Escrima, Arnis, Pekiti Tirsia, the empty handed strikes of Panantukan, the blade skills of Sayoc Kali and Atienza Kali, the fluidity of Filipino Combat Systems, the grappling of Dumog, the fist strikes of Kuntao, or Kali Silat, our training group will study it. Maybe not this week but I can assure you we will get to it.
